Maristella has been the best friend of the main character, Dorothea, for her entire life.
She was nothing more than a supporting character to make Dorothea look good.
Maristella ventured across the country to rescue her friend and even sacrificed her happiness for her, but in the end, she was betrayed.
Dorothea sent Maristella to her death for her own interests.
“Since we’re friends, Mari.”
And I possessed the body of the dead Maristella.
So humor me, okay?”
As I stared at Dorothea, I remembered how she constantly made Maristella sacrifice things in the name of “friendship.” It solidified my resolve.
I won’t settle for Maristella’s pathetic ending in the novel.
“I’m not the lady you know. I think you have the wrong person.”
“I’m determined not to get entangled in Dorothea’s matters anymore.”
I’m not kind-hearted like Maristella.
So this time I won’t take any of it, Dorothea.
